Galston Street, Garesfield Street and Anderson Place


Galston Street, Garesfield Street and Anderson Place are housing estates located in the Adamsdown ward. They were built in the 1970’s and consist of a mixture of terraced houses and three-storey blocks of flats.

The Neighbourhood Regeneration Team has prioritised the area for an environmental estate regeneration scheme with the view to delivering the project in 2018 (subject to confirmation of funding).

Public Consultation

The first stage public consultation took place in February 2017.  Survey forms were sent to all residents within the scheme to find out the issues in the area and establish priorities. Many residents were positive and welcomed changes.


Initial investigations have identified numerous key elements for improvement:

• New front and rear boundaries.
• Improved courtyard security.
• The gating of some gulleys to improve security.
• Improved street lighting.
• New courtyard bin stores.
• Litter bins within the estates.
• Resurface footpaths, roads and parking areas.

What Happens Next?

The proposed improvements will only take place if enough residents support the proposals, and if the required permissions (e.g. planning permission) are granted.

It is anticipated that the improvement works will start in 2018.
