Tudor Street Commercial Improvement Scheme
Funding has been secured from the Welsh Government, in partnership with Cardiff Council to deliver external improvements to commercial premises on Tudor Street in Riverside. This project forms part of a wider action plan for regeneration in the business areas of South Riverside.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO TAKE PART IN THE PROJECT?
Commercial business properties within the Tudor Street Local Shopping Centre are eligible to take part in the project, subject to the completion and approval of a short application form. Applicants must be either a freeholder of the property or a leaseholder with at least 7 years remaining on the lease. 95% of the cost of the project will be funded from the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council and a 5% contribution will be sought from successful applicants towards the works to individual premises.
WHAT TYPE OF WORK CAN BE CARRIED OUT BY THE PROJECT?
External works to front elevations of buildings (including upper floors) which includes:
- New Shutters
- Signage and lighting
- Rainwater goods
- Replacement Upper Floor Windows
- Brickwork repairs/repointing and stone cleaning and painting
WHAT TYPE OF WORK CANNOT BE CARRIED OUT BY THE PROJECT?
- Works to the roof of premises
- Works to address structural problems with a building
- Internal works to premises (other than making good of areas as a result of elements such as installing new shop fronts)
WHEN WILL THE PROJECT START?
Expressions of interest need to be received by 01/07/2019 with the aim of starting works on site in Autumn 2019.
HOW WILL THE PROJECT WORK?
The Council will manage the design and delivery of the project. This will include securing planning and building consents, providing designs in consultation with property owners as well as appointing a contractor to carry out the works. Full support and assistance will be given to property owners to ensure the process is simple and successful.
